How this works
Ansar's defining feature is not having more sources. It is what it chooses not to show you.
The unit is a development, not a page
When a company launches, that launch may appear on Product Hunt, on Hacker News, in a GitHub release and in a funding database. Those are four records describing one thing that happened. Ansar resolves them to one company, clusters them into one development, and attaches all four as evidence — so you read it once and can still check every source.
Evidence keeps its type
“$42,000 MRR” verified through a payment provider and “$42,000 MRR” mentioned by a founder are different claims about the world. Ansar never collapses them. Every number carries how it was established, and the interface says so in one of four words: Verified, Reported, Estimated, Derived.
Ranking you can inspect
Ranking is a deterministic, versioned formula — currently v1.0.0. Every scored development stores its component breakdown, so “why was this ranked highly?” is answerable months later.
- user relevance0.3
- information value0.18
- evidence quality0.14
- novelty0.12
- corroboration0.1
- freshness0.08
- ecosystem significance0.08
Penalties are then subtracted for duplication, promotional language, low confidence, staleness and source dominance. Anything below 0.28 is not shown at all.
You can see the top reasons on any feed page with why am I seeing this.
Popularity is not quality
Upvote counts are stored as observations, never treated as importance. A launch with many votes and no discussion, no code, no traffic and no revenue is exactly the pattern Ansar downranks. A quiet company with growing verified revenue is exactly the pattern it surfaces.
Personalisation, not surveillance
Ansar personalises from what you tell it. There is no dwell-time tracking, no scroll depth, no third-party analytics and no advertising infrastructure. Negative filters are absolute: if you hide a topic, it is removed before ranking, whatever it scores.
A quiet day is a short page
On a day when little happened, Ansar shows you less. It does not pad the feed to fill space. The goal is that you open it, understand what changed, and leave.
Free, with no catch
There is no paid tier, no advertising, no sponsored placement and no paid ranking. See Sources for exactly where the information comes from and what each provider’s terms allow us to show.
